Before any hydraulic system leaves our premises we thoroughly test it to make sure that there are no weak points in the system or faulty parts which will cause a delay in you getting your equipment operational again.
When equipment is in place and begins to malfunction there are a number of tests that can be done to determine where the problem lies. Usually the problem will be evident in the behavior of the equipment but occasionally a problem will occur that can't be spotted just by looking at it. Your alternative to self diagnosis and repair is to consult with expert manufacturers and repairmen.
Some of the steps we follow to determine a problem
Know the system
Our years of expertise have exposed us to most hydraulic systems which are in operation and because we trade and test most brands our knowledge of hydraulics is quite extensive. The system which the particular piece of equipment forms part can be investigated.
Ask the operator
Speaking to the owner or the person who operates the specific piece of equipment will lend more insight into the nature of the problem. By consulting with someone who is familiar with the equipment it will be easier to pinpoint the problem because they know what is supposed to happen every step of the way.
Operate the machine
Where possible we like to operate the machine in question as it helps to give us a better feel for the equipment and a sense of what is happening. This may also help us to find other problems that have not been noticed yet.
Inspect the machine
The same can be said for inspecting the machine. Often the cause of a problem is not immediately evident yet upon closer inspection it can be determined.
List possible causes
For every action there is an equal opposite reaction. Normally this is the case where something breaks a specific set of consequences can be expected. However there are occasions where there can a few possible causes and by listing them all and through a process of elimination we can reach the exact cause of the problem and respond appropriately.
Explore further
By exploring further than the actual problem we might be able to ascertain the cause and in this way develop a way to eliminate future occurrences.
